Castle Rushen High School

Care, Quality, Opportunity

Dear Parents and Carers

In response to the latest IOM Government advice and the evolving COVID situation here on the island, I am writing to confirm that the school will be closed for all except invited Year 11 and 13 students for the week commencing Monday 12th April. For most students this means a return to the remote learning provision we had in place before Easter. There may be some slight reduction in the service on offer as some teachers have been scheduled to be in school with the older students next week. Hopefully this will only be a relatively short-term arrangement and we are looking forward to getting all our students back in for the remainder of the summer term once we have been given the go ahead.

The extended lockdown means that we won't be able to host the Year 9 pathways evening scheduled for next Thursday, 15th April. We have all the relevant KS4 course information ready to go and will operate the options process for those in Year 9 remotely; we will send this out to those affected next week.

We have been asked to implement a phased return for our older students from Tuesday 13th April, focussing on those in Years 13 and 11 who are required to undertake further work and assessment in school. This will mean that we will be learning with social distancing still in operation and this significantly reduces the numbers we can accommodate safely in the building. Year 13 and 11 students and their parents will get further information via a separate communication.

I look forward to writing to you with better news in the near future. My hope is that we will all be back in school from Monday 19th April. In the meantime I hope all those connected to CRHS stay safe and well.

With kind regards

Mr K Winstanley
Headteacher
