Castle Rushen High School

Care, Quality, Opportunity

Following a week of so much uncertainty with the school’s exam results, it’s good to be able to write with good news!

Cambridge International has just announced this evening (Monday 17th August) it will also be giving results which equal the teacher predicted grades which the school submitted:

“We have decided that grades we issue for the June 2020 series will not be lower than the predicted grade submitted by the school. Where a grade we issued last week was higher than the predicted grade, the higher grade will stand.”

The English and Welsh exam boards announced a similar message earlier today, hence my earlier communication to you all. The majority of our GCSEs are through Cambridge International - English (both Language and Literature), non-BTEC Sciences, Geography, History, Business Studies, Computer Science, ICT, Music and PE.

The intention is for Cambridge International to update the results it has awarded which we should then be able to download into our exam systems, so the results slips which you receive on Thursday at the usual results day from 9.00am will contain the correct results. We will maintain the opportunity for an early discussion for those students whose results do not meet the usual entry criteria for 6th form i.e. 5 A*-C including English Language and Maths on Thursday afternoon.

If you feel you really want to know what your Centre Assessed Grades for Cambridge iGCSE are before then, please come to the school library between 10am and 12pm tomorrow (Tuesday 18th August) and we’ll give them to you. Sixth form signing on day remains scheduled from 10.00am this Friday, 21st August.

It’s a shame this has been so challenging a process, but I am very pleased with the end result.

Mr K Winstanley
Headteacher
