Congratulations to senior student Breesha, who won the Simcocks essay competition!
This year, students were invited to write a 1000-word essay in response to one of two challenging questions:
"Does the law relating to public order offences adequately protect the right to freedom of expression and freedom of assembly under the European Convention on Human Rights?"
"To what extent does intoxication provide a defence to a criminal charge?"
Breesha comfortably secured her win, with what is thought to be the highest marks ever awarded! This achievement speaks volumes about her ability to master her learning: using her sharp intellect (Head), her evident passion for the subject matter (Heart), and her skill in writing a compelling essay (Hands).
With prize money of £500 and a week's work experience at the firm, we are so delighted to see Breesha's success. This prize not only rewards her efforts but also provides a "hands-on" opportunity to further develop her practical legal skills, bridging the gap between her learning and real-world application. Congratulations Breesha!
