Castle Rushen High School

Care • Quality • Opportunity

Today, we said a fond farewell to our Year 11s.

Mr Winstanley addressed the year group, commending them on their resilience and noting their individuality throughout their five years at the school. While the focus now shifts to their upcoming examinations, he emphasised that these assessments are a stepping stone rather than a definitive measure of their worth. During their time at CRHS, these students have developed their Head, Heart, and Hands, devoting times to their studies, and participating in collaborative efforts such as the school show, and sports teams, all whilst navigating the hustle and bustle of school life.

Former student Phil Cringle, ‘a farmer from Ballabeg’, joined us to share his experiences as a professional athlete. He told students that it is perfectly fine if they have not yet discovered their long-term passion, as opportunities will emerge in time. Mr Cringle explained that success is built on sacrifice, noting the discipline he developed through 6am gym sessions during his own time at the school. He encouraged students to pursue what they love, noting that this is key to long-term career satisfaction.

The audience was treated to a musical interlude from a very talented group of Year 11 GCSE Music students.

Mr Davies thanked the year group for their influence on his professional and personal development, noting they had helped him become a better teacher, leader, and father. He confirmed his ongoing support for the students wherever their path takes them.

We are proud of our Year 11s, and we wish them the very best as they go out to make their own luck. Be kind and be brilliant!
