On Monday evening (9 March), two of our Year 9 students took part in the Rotary Club’s Public Speaking Competition held at King William’s College. Distinguished guests in attendance included His Excellency Sir John Lorimer and Lady Lorimer, the Hon. Daphne Caine MHK, Minister for Education, Sport and Culture, Sarah Maltby MHK, Mayor of Douglas City Council, and Councillor Steven Crellin JP.

Representing the school were Ethan as Chairperson and Henry as Speaker. Henry delivered an engaging speech titled “Esports: Sport, Pastime or Addiction?”, which explored the growing impact of competitive gaming.

Both students performed exceptionally well, captivating the audience with confidence, flair and humour. Their efforts earned them an impressive second place overall- a fantastic achievement and a credit to the school!
